Why this kind of "old school" marketing is a must (+ new episode!)

Question for you, Reader.

If you could quit social media tomorrow without it affecting your business in any way whatsoever, would you?

a) Maybe.
b) Hell, yes.
c) Duh, of course.

I know so many entrepreneurs who would be thrilled at the prospect of never having to create an IG Reel ever again.

Because even though they're doing their best to leverage platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, they really wish they didn't have to.

Even thought these platforms are free tools that allow us to reach people far and wide, they are also wildly depleting and defeating.

Especially when you’re trying to grab the eyeballs of humans whose attention is being pulled in a million directions every time they scroll.

This topic has been on my mind a lot over the past few years.

Mostly because I’m so much more interested in being present inside my real life than spending hours coming with social media content that doesn’t get much visibility. (I know you feel me on that one.)

So, what the heck is the solution? Is there anything we can spend more time doing to help elevate the visibility of our businesses?

Of course there is! And it starts with this:

Not putting all of your eggs in the online marketing basket and focusing a portion of your time and energy cultivating IRL relationships.

Yep, the “old school,” “grassroots” way of building awareness about yourself and your unique offerings. And if you’re an introvert like me who cringes at the thought of “networking,” don’t worry, that’s not what I’m talking about here.

I’m talking about making friends with fellow business owners in your area; collaborating with local practitioners, wellness spaces, and businesses; and being of service to people who live within a few miles of your front door.

This is an effort that won’t just create a new channel of opportunity for you, but it will do something even better: nourish you.

In person connection and friendship and like-mindedness is so good for the soul, and yet it’s something we are spending less and less time doing in the digital world we live in.

That’s why I love entrepreneurs like Palak Dave, this week’s guest on the podcast.

She's the founder and CEO of Embiria where she inspires a shift away from digital distractions toward embracing in-person experiences, gatherings, and the beauty of living life in the present moment.

Since 2017, she’s hosted over 350 curated events, including intimate experiences for brands such as Google, Nespresso and Bumble, and continues to urge all of us to prioritize real-life experiences and connection over digital noise.

In this week’s episode, we dive into her incredible journey to building this beautiful platform including:

  • What is was like to leave behind a super successful career in marketing to devote herself to her own wellness event business

  • Her best tips and techniques for being an amazing host who makes every attendee feel comfortable and seen

  • Her thoughts on social media platforms and how she leverages social media platforms with intention

  • And more

Palak also has an awesome Zoom workshop for entrepreneurs who want to strengthen their brand loyalty and personal relationships through the art of bringing people together in today’s digitally driven world. Details here.

She’s amazing and I can’t wait for you to hear this super practical and inspiring conversation.
